About the Composer

Biography

My name is Sean Connolly. I was born in 1991 in Blytheville, Arkansas. After a childhood spent following my father’s Air Force assignments around America, I spent my high school years and began my career in the Cincinnati area. Initially inspired to play organ by Diana Davis, the parish organist at St. Peter’s in Waldorf, MD, where I received my first Communion, I began studying organ formally for the first time with Kenneth Blue in high school. I spent my high school and immediately post-collegiate years working in parish and school settings in the Diocese of Covington and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

I currently reside with my wife, Chelsea, and four children in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, where I am Director of Music and Organist at St. Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church, and a classroom teacher of Theology and music in the parish’s middle and high school.

I hold a B.A. from Christendom College in Front Royal, VA, where I was also chapel organist as a student, working under the supervision of Dr. Kurt Poterack. This year, I am on track to complete my Master’s degree in Church Music at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, where I study organ under Dr. James Freese.

In your charity, please remember in your prayers Ken Blue and Helmut Röhrig, teachers and mentors of mine who have passed from this life into eternity.
